“In the face of the vastness, the magic, the unknown quality of life, and in a moment of true humility, we may discover the actuality that washes away all our concepts.” The words in this exquisite little book provide us with a portal to that discovery. Pairing the stunning paintings of Richard Stodart with the profound words of Steven Harrison, The Shimmering World evokes the mysterious alchemy of stillness that transforms us. A marvelous gift for anyone who is moving through a great transition or wants to change their life, and a companion book for those who need to reach deeper within to come face to face with their truth.

A native of Trinidad, the West Indies, Richard Stodart is a Canadian citizen and a graduate of Ryerson University in Toronto. He began painting in 1973 and in 1975 was awarded a Canada Council Grant for his paintings. Since 1976 he has lived in the United States. The aim of Richard’s work is to explore and present the freedom of dual and nondual unity. Many sources inspire him, including the spiritual teachings of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Kabbalism. Richard’s art has appeared on magazine, book and music album covers. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Canada, Hawaii and the US mainland. He is the author of Free and Easy Wandering, Markings on the Way. Visit his website:www.richardstodart.com.

What others have to say about The Shimmering World:

“Has the flowering of the postmodern cultures of meditation unwittingly come to serve the very lifeways of consumerism? This is what Steven Harrison tells us in his own inimitable style. Practicing the actuality of the moment is so obvious that many of us would do anything to avoid it. But having called our bluff, he relents and opens the way to that practice.” -—Elise Boulding, author of Cultures of Peace
